Senior Therapist

Nikita Fernandes

I’m a South Asian, queer therapist committed to providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and identity-affirming therapy. With a focus on inclusivity, I create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel safe exploring their identities and experiences. I specialize in working with immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC communities, neurodivergent folks, sex workers, and those navigating non-monogamous and kinky relationships. My practice is deeply rooted in cultural humility, acknowledging that every individual brings a unique set of lived experiences.

As an immigrant myself, I understand the complexities and challenges of adjusting to a new culture, especially in today’s political climate. My goal is to offer a healing space for those experiencing anxiety, isolation, and oppression tied to their cultural and immigrant identities.

I work collaboratively with clients to address a wide range of concerns, including sexuality, gender identity, sexual trauma, and relationship dynamics. My therapeutic approach centers trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and liberation-based frameworks. I integrate multicultural therapy, DBT, somatic therapy, and humanistic approaches to help clients process trauma and cultivate resilience. Additionally, I draw on my lived experience as a sex educator and member of poly/kinky communities in NYC to share valuable community resources with my clients.

Healing is a deeply personal and non-linear journey, and I am honored to walk alongside clients as they reconnect with their authentic selves. Whether navigating sexual liberation, overcoming trauma, or seeking to live more fully, my goal is to empower clients to live their most authentic, fulfilling lives.

I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from NYU, and I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. I also have postgraduate training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) from Journey Clinical.
